Description
DIN typefaces are a popular choice for setting data-oriented content; this example by Anand Sharma presents the personal data gathered by his smartphone regarding his various activities.
DIN’s popularity for this type of work is in large part down to its perceived neutrality. It was conceived in 1920s Germany as a modular, easy to reproduce system based on precise geometry, yet it is less ruled by the pure geometrical forms of the slightly later modernist faces such as Futura®, and works well in situations that require compact, unfussy typography.
